Christmas Makes - by Helen D

As the blustery tail end of the hurricane raged all around us there was a whirlwind of activity at our October meeting with many wearing pink
for the Breast Cancer Campaign!

As hoped our Exhibition was a great success with over 120 visitors streaming through the door to admire the handiwork and creativity of the contributors from our group. The outcome when all monies were counted was a profit of over £120 for Shirley Quilters and over £350 was raised for our charities through the popularity of the Tombola and Raffle - so a great result and one we should all be very proud of.

Our exhibition winners were announced - Linda Mercer for Fibonacci with a Bali Pop and Debbie Perry for her WW1 Challenge Quilt - well done to both of them.

There were reminders of all the local exhibitions and fairs and retail activities for us to enjoy in the run up to Christmas and talking of Christmas .....................we then went Christmas crazy with great demonstrations by Jan & Lisa, Julia, Eileen and Jill which will have us all busy for years to come. Great ideas ranging from clever coasters, no sew tree decorations, bunting & stitchery wall hangings, curtain ring wreaths and hexagon hangings.............we were spoilt for choice. Inspiration continued with some lovely Christmas "Show & Tell" items from a number of members.

Our November meeting is a Christmas Cracker demo and Eileen will send out a requirements list for us.

At our December meeting we will be having a discussion on the "workings of the group" if you have any ideas, suggestions, issues or just general feedback you wish to be raised please send it to Eileen by 23rd November so the Committee can collate/sort all contributions have your say about your group!
