National Quilt Championships - by Eileen

I have just spent a most enjoyable day with a friend at The National Quilt Championships held at Sandown Park Racecourse in Surrey. There was an amazing selection of quilts on display of all sizes and colours. Although not all to my taste I am, as always, totally amazed at the amount of work that some quilters can produce. Where do they get their inspiration?

Having had a good look at the exhibits we sat out on the verdanah, in the glorious sunshine, to have our lunch. A good many others were doing the same as us, having a short rest before some more walking.

It was now down to the serious business of looking at the traders, of which as usual, there were many, some of the "old faithfuls" but also some new names which is always nice to see. I was really impressed with Sew Enchanting who are based in Newton Abbot, Devon, their stand and products were a little different, take a look at their website www.sewenchanting.co.uk  Just how can there be so many different fabrics I have no idea but it is lovely to look - because even a quilter cannot buy everything they want.

After the Stitchery Meeting on Tuesday, our eyes were naturally drawn to the amount of stitchery now included in quilting, some truly original and unique designs to be found.  Please read review below.

A bonus of being on the Committee is that I am able to purchase raffle prizes and other small items for the group and this is an ideal opportunity as there is such a choice. A meeting with Julia led to a "mini committee meeting" and we made the decision to add some patterns to the library - these will be available shortly.
