New Year Challenges and Charity Makes - by Ann

The first meeting of the year was very well attended. Julia kicked off the evening by telling us that one of our members, Janet Berlin, has been awarded the BEM. Congratulations go to Janet.

There is a Saturday workshop on Saturday 22nd of March when Deborah O’Hare will teach us how to sew mini landscapes. Places are going fast so if you are interested to attend please let Jackie Bartley know.

Next came the New Year Challenges. This year there are only two, as members are urged to work on their own quilting projects which can be displayed at our exhibition later in the year.

The first is an A3 Hanging/Quilt to commemorate 100 years since World War One. The second is a Block Challenge and Julia gave out a pack which contained fabric and the instructions to make two identical blocks. These blocks, when completed, will be sewn together to make two charity quilts. One large one to raffle at the exhibition and a smaller one to donate to our chosen charity.

It is now the time to prepare for the AGM on the 20th May when votes will be taken for a Chairperson, Secretary and Events' Organiser. Nomination Forms are available from Julia if you wish to put somebody’s name forward but please get their permission first.
