This month numbers attending were unusually low – due to illness and holidays – however we had a productive meeting.
Julia started the meeting with the notices and some reminders about our 2015 challenges.
Block 2 for charity quilts – to be handed in by March 17th
T Shirt block for Project Linus - in by April 21st at the latest. Quite a collection had already been handed in at the start of the meeting. Volunteers were requested for stitching blocks together and completing the quilts.
Part 2 of the Mystery Quilt was available on paper and would be sent out by email the following day.
The Ingredients Table(s) had many enticing items for sale. There was much browsing and buying before the meeting and during the coffee break.
Jill and Linda had done lots of preparation so that we could settle down to make cards under their guidance. Jill demonstrated one using tiny hexagons and Linda used flower and leaf cut-outs on her design. After a lot of selecting, sticking, folding and pressing we all managed to produce 2 very different handmade cards each. Many thanks to both of them for all the time they had spent in preparation beforehand so that we could get on and enjoy the making and embellishing.
At the end of the evening we were reminded that our next two meetings are open ones, so would not have many specific Shirley Quilters notices. We were asked to make sure our Membership fee (£27) is paid up by the close of the May meeting (May 19th).
