May AGM - by Helen D
Our meeting in May is devoted to the official business of Shirley Quilters and last night was our 13th AGM. The current Treasurer provided an update of our expenditure and revenue streams then unopposed was re-elected for a further three year term.
The Chair reviewed activities of the last year including our speakers, workshops, exhibition and charitable works which refreshed our memories of another busy year for the group. She also took the opportunity to remind members that it is their efforts, ideas and support that makes the group a success as well as thanking some individuals for their particularly excellent contributors last year. As we move into this new year the members were also reminded that three Committee posts will be up for re-election in May 2014 - the Chair, Secetary and Events Co-ordinator.
We agreed that as a group we will continue to support Project Linus and voted to support a Multiple Sclerocis Centre in Coulsdon suggested by a member who volunteers at the centre. No issues had been submitted prior to the meeting as Any Other Business so the meeting closed.
After much needed refreshments members shared tips on tools or gadgets that they couldn't live without ......from Burger King Straws to make bias binding to Frixion pens for marking sewing lines to 4 in 1 sewing tools etc., etc. Then a wonderful show and tell which resulted in a heap more quilts on their way to Project Linus.
