April Meeting - by June
Even before the meeting officially began it was clear that there was a great shopping opportunity in store and members were already browsing the goodies.
After the usual notices, Julia introduced Izzy from Creative Quilting at Hampton Court. Izzy told us a little about the shop; they stock thousands of fabrics, specialising particularly in bright colours, childrens' and Japanese fabrics, and anexcellent selection of flannels. In addition they have an extensive collection of books, magazines and notions. And advent calendars will shortly be in stock! A number of our members confirmed that a trip to Creative Quilting can make a great day out, easily combined with a visit to Hampton Court, the Royal School of Needlework or a boat trip down the river. Plenty of coffee shops available too.
The evening proceeded with a real buzz as we shopped and chatted to our hearts content.
As usual we saw some beautiful work in the show and tell, including one special item – a sampler quilt made by Jill which features in Lynne Edwards' The Essential Sampler Quilt Book. There is a copy of this book in the Shirley Quilters' Library if you would like to see it.
Janet recommended the Kaffe Fassett exhibition being held until 29 June at the Fashion and Textile Museum, 83 Bermondsey Street, not far from London Bridge.
