March Meeting - by Sue

Another really busy and interesting evening!  Four of our lovely ladies were sitting at separate tables and demonstrating various techniques and blocks.

After Julia had read all the notices and told us a little bit about helping on the Quilters' Guild Stand at the Stitch and Craft show at Olympia we watched the various demonstrations.

Linda showed us how to machine embroider, her explanations are always so clear and easy and I am sure I will manage to master this technique one day!
Our little group watched Linda for about fifteen minutes and then moved on to the next table where Ann was demonstration a "spiders web" block. This
was a very effective but simple block and could be used for one of the challenges that we have been set for this year, making the same blocks in four different ways so they all look different.

We then moved on to near the stage where there were a lot of books that we coluld look at to get inspiration for this challenge.

After a much need cup of tea of coffee it was on to Jill, this time to be shown about hand quilting.

Then lastly it was on to Sharon who was showing us how to appliqué, mainly with Bondaweb and she had brought in her lovely seaside quilt to show.  She also showed us how to appliqué a penguin.

If this wasn't enough to do in one evening we then had a very interesting "show and tell".  The various items had been on show at the side of the hall during the evening so we all had a chance to have a good look at them.  The ladies who had made the items then told us a little bit about them.

All in all a very busy and interesting evening!
