Coach Trip to Duxford Quilt Show - by Hannah

Fourteen Shirley Quilters' members and one husband set off for our trip to Duxford Quilt Show on Saturday 9th March.  We left the Methodist Church about 8.30 a.m. and arrived at the show about 10.15 a.m., a very good journey. Our very pleasant driver made good time, very little traffic on the road.

What a venue,  to get to the quilt show we had to go into a very large aircraft hanger and saw some wonderful old planes in the Aircraft Museum, this is where Ann’s husband left the group to go into the museum  which I’m sure he enjoyed very much.

We all enjoyed coffee and cake before we set off to shop until we dropped.  In the café area was a very impressive Typhoon fighter jet, not the usual decoration you would expect to see in the restaurant area of a quilt show.

At first glance it appeared a small quilt show but the usual traders were there along with a few new ones that I personally had not seen before and of
course they had a beautiful selection of quilts to inspire us.

Julia and Jackie went shopping for some backing material for the Linus quilts and got a really good deal on the fabric.

At 3.30 we left the show with lots of fabric and very little money and we had enjoyable drive home we arrived back at the Church just before 5pm.
