2016 January

January Meeting - by Ann S

The first meeting of the Shirley Quilters was a very lively meeting with a good attendance. To start us off Julia gave out the notices. She mentioned that our fund raising for the Croydon Food Hub had netted £53 and she had sent a cheque for £55 to the charity.

Our support for the Linus Project continues with 220 quilts sent from SQ last year, 30 of them made by Shirley – she is a very busy quilter!

Next Julia rolled out the challenges for 2016, four in all. The main challenge is to make a 20” x 20” hanging/quilt/cushion/bag to be named “Blue”. The scope is endless and items made will be on show at our Quilting Exhibition in October. The second challenge is to make a log cabin block, material supplied, which will be assembled as a quilt to be raffled at the Exhibition, the proceeds will go to “Mission Care”, our chosen charity. The third challenge is to make 2 blocks each, again some material supplied, to be put together to make teacup/coffee cup/cupcake bunting. Finally the 4th challenge is to make a tombola item.

All in all it looks to be a productive year and all the above will be available to view at our Exhibition, book the date, 8th October!

Our next open meeting will be 15th March.
