2016 Jennie Rayment

Jennie Rayment - by Jan T

This meeting, with a talk by Jennie Rayment, promised to be a good one and didn't disappoint. The meeting opened early so that we could see the exhibits for the Blue Challenge and items made in workshops held over the year. We also had a chance to buy raffle tickets and win tombola items.

Julia introduced Jennie who first fave us the results of the Blue Challenge including some useful tips about what she looks for when judging. The competition was won by Julia with "Wash Day Bues" and second was Lindsey with her beautiful cushion.

Then the fun began. In her lively and dramatic way of talking Jennie ranged from advice on mobile phone charging, false teeth, and not including a cucumber in your carry-on bag to the best kind of tea for tea dying, scrunched up centres, washing your clothes in a hotel room and fiddling and twiddling in general. She took us through her quilting journey, explaining the changes she had made in it and telling us that she had now come back to piecing. She was wearing clothing made by herself including thigh length red patent high-heeled boots and most of this was gradually discarded at the end. She kept us all in stitches and the large audience, including many visitors, were obviously enjoying themselves.

The meeting finished with refreshments (thank you to all those who provided yummy cakes) and the drawing of the raffle.

Thank you Jennie for an excellent evening.
