As we entered the “Queen” of Raffle Tickets had been up to her tricks so we each were given a ticket that we had to match to a chair.....the usual confusion reigned while we all worked out that the plot was to mix us up!!! A lovely idea as we all settled down chatting with members we only usually see from a distance.
Claire then took us through the 2018 Programme which looks very good with lots of sewing/chatting evenings to help us get ready for the exhibition in October. She also announced that we had raised £80 for Breast Cancer on our Pink Evening so well done Jill for organising it. Our new website is just about to go live with lots of photos of our mini exhibition so keep a look out for it early in the new year.
During the evening we all had the opportunity to shop & buy from the incredible stash of our recently departed member Gaye so hopefully we shopped as only Quilters can and raised a lot of money for her sons to donate to Cancer Research.
It wouldn’t be Christmas without a game and as a cloth covered tray appeared on each table a large groan went around the hall - a memory game on no!! Only Sally managed to recall all 14 items and was rewarded by a lovely FQ of fabric. By now we were all gasping so it was time for tea with Christmas nibbles before saying our goodbyes and leaving clutching our surprise Christmas gifts. So a lovely start to the festive season was had by one and all so roll on 2018 at Shirley Quilters.
