Origami Blocks - by Ann S
The May meeting was well attended, although due to holidays we seemed to have a lower turn out than usual.
The evening was a demonstration of quilted origami. There were 4 tables each with a demonstrator. The members had been given some instructions before the meeting so had come with material prepared. There was a good atmosphere as members discussed various aspects of the origami squares. We had prepared enough material to make four 5” blocks which we padded. Each block could then be sewn together in different ways to make various designs.
The show and tell of Linus quilts was encouraging with 27 quilts handed in for May. Also on display were hats, knitted blankets and jackets and baby bonding squares for premature babies. The bonding squares comprise of 2 matching 5” knitted squares tied together for mother and baby to swap between them. Anyone wishing to knit to swell our output for Linus is welcome. And all patterns can be found on Pinterest, but you can get them on mariannaslazydaisydays.
A pleasant evening with lots to talk about.
