A lot of the usual stands were in their regular positions on the ground floor. As it was fairly quiet at this time, we decided to look around the stands with a possibility of making a purchase or two. One of the areas that was really crowded was the corner where Sew Enchanted had displayed their goods. They always lay out such an inviting display, patterns, quilts, colours of fabric and numerous other items look so tempting. A number of traders had special prices on the fabrics, which of course is always hard to resist, especially if those traders are not local to where you live.
After some retail therapy and a good look round we went to find some refreshment. It is always a challenge to find somewhere to sit, patience was rewarded. A nice break to have a chat, look at purchases and of course the shopping list!
Feeling revived, we then went to look at the quilts hanging in the upstairs area. The ones that really took my eye were the four small pieces of Exeter Cathedral in the four seasons. Beautifully designed and stitched.
Back downstairs and a purchase of fabric for my Block of the Month. No more about that now as it will be shown at the Shirley Quilters’ Exhibition in October, all being well.
Ardingly is always a nice intimate event but I have noticed that it is getting smaller since I first visited. There are not as many traders or quilts on display. Well known quilters used to attend and promote their own style of quilting, unfortunately this does not seem to be the case anymore. Having said that, it is still an enjoyable event set in the lovely Sussex countryside.
