I
visited the Malvern Quilt show on a beautiful sunny day with picturesque views of the Malvern Hills.
There was a good selection of quilts to view. I particularly liked the quilts of the group Little Coxwell Quilters. The overall winner was a wholecloth long arm quilted quilt “Juno”. The runner up, “Ground cover”, which I preferred, was an appliqué quilt. Of course I visited the traders and bought some fabric and visited Claire on her father’s stand.
I visited the Jen Jones shop at her cottage near Lampeter and saw a wonderful selection of antique Welsh quilts and blankets and bought a cushion. Next to Lampeter and the Welsh Quilt Centre. This year is their tenth anniversary and a selection of quilts from past exhibitions was on display. Sadly this centre closes at the end of the year. Near door is the shop Calico Kate with several floors of rooms full of fabric. The biggest selection I have visited.
Next visit was to the Welsh National Wool Museum. A small museum in the countryside. We toured the museum and watching the looms working. A blanket purchase was made in the mill shop. Here amazingly I met a Beckenham Quilter!
We ended our trip with a visit to the National Botanic gardens of Wales. I enjoyed the craft visits and my husband the photography.
