2018 Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin Patch, Hailsham – by Eileen

Having heard that the shop was closing and given the opportunity of visiting for the last time I popped in while in the town.

I looked around and all the shelves looked well stocked and I noticed “new ranges” of fabrics. “Are you closing down?” I asked, “NO” was the reply, the shop has been saved!! Julie is the new owner who has only been there for a week (now 6th July 2018). Julie is a dressmaker but obviously keen to extend her knowledge into patchwork and quilting. There will still be regular classes held above the shop.

The shelves are packed with a good range of fabrics as well as a table with lots of “lovely fat quarters” and half metre cuts. As you go in the front door there is a selection of wools and knitting patterns. I needed some vilene (yes needed!) and the range in stock was excellent. I did not “need” any fat quarters but had to purchase some to add to my own personal collection, actually I do have a plan for them. As well as a good range of patterned fabrics there was an excellent choice of plains and spraytime, which are always useful extras.

The shop is tucked away in a very pleasant little Walk, there are plenty of cafes nearby to have refreshments either before or after shopping. A real bonus – parking is free in Hailsham. So, if you are heading towards Eastbourne on a day out, take a short detour off the A22 and go and find Julie in Pumpkin Patch. www.pumpkinpatchquilting.co.uk
