As I walked into the hall, last night, you could tell it was one of our favourite meetings of the year. The hall was full of chatting quilters, wearing the colour pink, as it was our cancer donation evening, sitting around tables full of Christmas materials and ribbons and in the centre of the tables were examples of the most exquisite Christmas Wreaths. You are a very talented committee. We sat with our 75 miniature pillows and stuffed and tied them onto our wire frames. Every wreath different and every one lovely.
Meanwhile Grace, tried her hardest, to get us to hand over our exhibits, by calling us to the stage, but everyone was so engrossed, she had to call several times. Even the tea trolley stood empty for quite a while as we were all so busy, stuffing and knotting.
Debbie asked, on behalf of the Caterham Knitting group, if any members who had a few spare minutes, and a little spare fabric or wool, if they could help with making bonding squares for the Neo-natal units of our hospitals. They need to be five inches square, come in pairs, and if made of material, please use cotton fabric. Debbie said she would be happy to receive any donations whenever we have 5 minutes to make some.
As I turned to leave the hall, after such a lovely evening, I saw by the doors the bulging bags of our challenges, and suddenly realised how lucky we are, because next time we see our challenges, they will be beautifully labelled and exhibited in the hall and it will all have been done by the "Magic Fairies" that make up our committee.
Thank you members for a lovely evening.
