2019 December Meeting

December Meeting - by Kate

Twas a week before Christmas when all through the hall
not a radiator was working, Well hardly at all;
The members were waiting all eager to hear
Which challenges were coming in the New Year;

We all passed around our ugly fat quarter
with so much confusion, and even more laughter,
to the left and the right as instructed by Claire
getting smaller and smaller then added some more;

With patterns and plains all together fourteen
We were tasked with creating something unseen
Before the next exhibition using all of the pieces
And forming them into a patchwork cohesive.

We learned all about the programme for 20
Then pitted our wits to quizzes aplenty.
Missing vowels from quilt blocks and 12 Christmas carols
Not to mention the anagrams that were not in capitals.

Then after refreshments, scrumptious cake and mince pies
It was time to display works of art - such a feast for our eyes!
Pass the parcel to the left and the right followed by a tombola
And a poem from Claire about our Christmas sewing dilemma

A little early we all tidied up, ready to go on our way
To our families and friends and prepare for the day
Thank you, Shirley Quilters, for an evening so bright
HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!

(With apologies to Claire not to mention Clement Clarke Moore!)
