We are particularly interested in Art Textiles so we made straight for the Textiles Galleries where we saw work by India Flint who specialises in Ecoprinting and there were some very strong images and interesting colours and textures. Sometimes Ecoprinting can be a bit washed out but not India’s!
In the Natural Selection we liked Alice Fox’s small books printed weekly from plant material from her allotment.
Sandra Meech had a very interesting gallery of her Polar Expressions documenting her journeys and impressions of the landscapes there.
Sarah Cook has made Bojagi (Korean Patchwork with transparent fabrics stitched with narrow seams) her specialism at the moment, beautiful work.
We later looked at the Two Person Quilts, some lovely ones there but who, I wondered, takes ownership of the quilt?
As we walked back through the galleries to buy “essentials “ (well there’s always something we need)we admired the other quilts, so many interesting colourful designs beautifully stitched .
We bought our “essentials” and later went to Frankie and Benny’s for a meal before catching our train home, an excellent day out.
Note: Dates for the Festival of Quilts 2020 are 30th July - 2nd August
