2019 London Quilters

London Quilters' Exhibition - by Jackie S

London Quilters' Exhibition is showing at Swiss Cottage Library until 28 June - still plenty of time left for a visit, and free entry courtesy of the London Borough of Camden. Not on Sunday. The Library is a very modern, light and airy building very close to Swiss Cottage Tube Station on the Jubilee Line, so well served and easily accessible by public transport.

There were about 60 quilts on show of varying sizes, styles and makers' abilities. It is a colourful display, which includes a very nice, large raffle quilt consisting mainly of triangles in several shades of green, blue, grey and white put together in a modern style - very fresh looking.

Several large quilts are hung outside the main room in a large open space, to good effect. The one of these that caught my eye consisted of small - about 1" square - pieces of red, blue, yellow, black, white fabric, assembled to look like mosaics in a very eye-catching pattern. All hand pieced over papers!

Although well hung in a nice space, in my opinion, the exhibition was not as varied or colourful as previous years but still well worth a visit.
