2019 Long Meadow Quilters' Exhibition

Long Meadow Quilters' Exhibition - by Eileen
After a beautiful sunny Easter, the following weekend’s weather was a let-down, but what better way to be cheerful than visit a Quilt Show. Long Meadow Quilters held their exhibition in the village hall at Shillingstone in Dorset on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th April.

The car park was small and very crowded, the hall was small as well, but it held a lovely array of quilts, a bag tombola, items for sale, a raffle and of course a quilt show would not be complete without tea and cake!

Some of the items on display had been made as part of group projects, i.e. round robin quilts. Other items were obviously from group projects and/or workshops. Unfortunately many of the exhibits had no name or information, those that had written about their work, had done so in great detail. I always think it is nice to know of the “Story Behind the Quilt”. The majority of the quilts on display had been long arm quilted.
I won a bag on the tombola but was not so lucky on the raffle.

A lot of work for a small group of ladies. I shall be looking to see when they have another exhibition, and if I can arrange my time in Dorset to coincide.
