Having the opportunity of visiting Dorchester, I looked in advance to check for any patchwork shops nearby. There are in fact two in Poundbury, which is located on the western outskirts of the town - easy and free parking.
Pauline’s Patchwork relocated some time ago from Weymouth and they are now at 8 Lower Blakemore Road, Poundbury, DT1 3RZ. www.paulinespatchwork.co.uk
There was obviously a workshop in progress as I could hear lots of laughs coming from an open room as I went into the shop.
The shop offers a wide range of regular workshops, not just patchwork but dressmaking as well. They also offer a long arm quilting service.
Sewing-Sanctuary
Onto the second visit - a few minutes away, but unsure of exactly where I was going I did take the car.
The Sewing Sanctuary imports from South Korea high quality fabrics as well as their own designs. They stocked a wide range of laminated fabric with ordinary cottons to match or co-ordinate. I did purchase some with the intention of making a bag – one day!
There were also some lovely pre-printed fabric squares by well-known artists such as Monet and van Gogh they would make lovely cushion tops – another purchase for one day.
Some interesting and different fabrics, plus patterns. This shop also offers workshops and is located at Pummery Square, Poundbury, DT1 3GW, www.Sewing-Sanctuary.com
