So, the other weekend I decided to take myself off to the stitch festival at Islington. This used to be held at Kensington Olympia under the guise of the Knitting & Stitching Show, but had outgrown that venue so had to move, this was its first time at its new home of the Business Design Centre.
I went on Sunday as it’s normally the quieter day but it still seemed busy. The stands were packed and there was limited space between, they had been properly packed in. This did not deter me in hunting down the quilting stands. I headed straight for one of my favourites and was not disappointed, Viv at Purple Stitches was only too happy to have a chat and even happier to sell me some panels, which were of course essential (I can’t go past Winnie the Pooh, slight addiction)
After the purchases I carried on and chatted some more to fellow traders I know and of course those I didn’t. Finally I made it up to the Quilters Guild stand where on display were a range of brightly coloured quilts by Kaffe Fasset (really needed sunglasses 😎) and then mini quilts made by the Modern Quilt Specialist Group inspired by the Bloomfield Coverlet, the variety really was inspiring.
After that it was time to head home, put feet up for a well earned cup of tea and an Easter cake.
