Itsy Bitsy Scraps – Sue
Our regular monthly Tuesday meeting had come round again and as is now the “norm” for us it was a Zoom meeting. We had been told earlier in the year to save all our craps for the evening’s workshop called Itsy Bitsy Scraps. We had all been sent out a requirements list before so that we were all prepared on the night.
There were 34 members in all who had joined the meeting and after we were welcomed as usual by a very cheerful Grace, Claire opened the meeting telling us of two events being held by Region 1 of the Quilters Guild. Eileen then explained what we had to do and in true Blue Peter fashion, she showed us more than I that she had” made earlier”. We had a piece of iron on Vilene which we had to cover in our scraps however we wanted, then cover with baking parchment or a silicone sheet and iron them down trying not to leave any gaps or overlap too much. Once this was done, we covered the scraps with tulle, net, gauze or similar fine fabric and then firmly sewed it down.
Claire had been going through some very old Quilting magazines and had found a quiz for anyone not working on their piece during the evening, quiz and answers sent out later by email to us.
We were asked to send Eileen pictures of our before and after pieces so that she could put the pictures on the website.
We then had a show and tell with various members showing items that they were working on or had completed.
The evening ended with Claire reminding us that next month we have a “virtual” visit by The Kilted Quilter, should be interesting
Thanks once again to our committee for all their hard work in these difficult times making sure that we have enjoyable meetings.
