Sandown Quilt Show, 28th - 30th April 2022 – by Jill
I spent an enjoyable morning at Sandown today, (Thursday 28th). It was not as busy as normal and quite comfortable to walk round and shop and look at the quilts. No queue at Fabrics Galore! I had planned to buy a cutting board at The Quilted Bear, but they were not there and no boards anywhere else. Otherwise, the usual big traders Doughtys, Lady sew and sew, World of Sewing and others and tutors giving short lessons. There were plenty of special offer fabrics, so I couldn’t resist some shopping.
The quilts were from groups or individual quilters, some of which I had seen at Ardingly. There were some very colourful quilts from Pascale Michalski, wonderful to look at. Gillian Travis showed her “Indian Sketchbook Quilts’. How the Indian figures were gradually made. Fascinating but not work that I could do. My favourite quilt was “Reverie des Fleus by Christine Porter of Cabot Quilters. Photographs are below of pieces of work.
It was warm enough to sit in the stands with a coffee, regroup and decide which stands to visit again.
