Andy Warhol Exhibition - by Viv
I recently went to the Fashion and Textile Museum to see the Andy Warhol exhibition. Andy Warhol designed textiles as a commercial designer and illustrator in the 1950s and 1960s. before he became famous for his pop culture art. His textile designs are now considered an important part of his work. The exhibition includes over 45 of Warhols textile patterns from the 1950s showing colourful objects such as ice cream sundae, toffee apples, buttons, lemons, pretzels and jumping clowns. These are shown in lengths of fabric and in multiple garments. It was extremely interesting learning about his early career.
Sadly the only criticism I could say of this exhibition was that there were no copies of his original fabric designs or lengths available buy in the museum shop.
