Ardingly Quilt Show - by Joyce
Jane and I had a good day at Ardingly Quilt Show on Saturday.
We spent our first hour looking round at all the suppliers and feeling very tempted by the beautiful and inspiring displays of quilts and bags to make. However we tried to stick to our shopping lists and I found some fleece fabric to make a sloth with my granddaughter and Jane found suitable fabric for backing a quilt she is making for the sister of her daughter’s partner . I later bought a kit from Hannah’s Room to make a journal quilt of a dozing fox . Kits are so tempting when all the fabrics are just there in the packet! I plan to make it with my granddaughter, need to keep the love of sewing going in the next generation!
Upstairs was the usual inspiring display of quilts.
Claire Tinsley showcased quilts she had made over several decades. Mostly appliquéd pictorial in style with a wide variety of techniques and images, all food for thought.
Sandie Lush showed her recent whole cloth quilts which she quilts by hand ,mostly in a paisley design , she has such patience, and they are beautiful.
Gillian Travis had made moving appliquéd quilts of her family, with relevant words stitched on them.
We had a great day and so nice to go to a show together again, the next one will be the Stitch Festival at the Business Design Centre at the Angel, so easy to get to and a light airy modern venue. 23rd to 26th March.
