2023 Crafty UK

Crafty UK - by Chrissie

This month's meeting was an open meeting for members and visitors and included a talk from Andy and Jo at Crafty UK and a raffle.

We started with some notices from Deirdre -

A reminder to all members that subs are due by the end of our meeting in May, details are in Eileen's email sent on 10th April.

Next meeting we will be putting together the charity quilts so we need 4 or 5 members to bring sewing machines, please let Deirdre know if you can help.

Deirdre will be resending this months block of the month as some members have not yet received it.

A reminder of some of the events on this month detailed in Kate's What's On missive-

Quilters' Guild have a stash busting sale in Polegate on 29th April.

Guildford Quilters have an exhibition on from May 9th to 14th and Heather Quilters have an exhibition from May 13th to 14th - a fine opportunity for a day out in Guildford as these exhibitions overlap.

Deirdre also announced the desperately sad news that Claire's Dad has died - we all send much love, sympathy and condolences to Claire at such a difficult time.

There followed a hugely entertaining talk from Andy at Crafty UK detailing his progress from cardboard box designer to quilting template guru. We got to see many of the quilts he and Jo have produced over the years using his fantastic laser cut acrylic templates.

Tea and biscuits followed with an opportunity to buy templates and fabrics from Crafty UK, this was far too tempting for most of us to resist!

We ended with the raffle draw and a mini show and tell of members' recent quilts.

Many thanks to all who contributed to another splendid meeting.
