May Meeting - by Jackie B
The meeting began with notices from Deirdre followed by a presentation of gifts to Anne L for her loyal contribution to the work of the committee for the last six years.
Each January members are given challenges for the forthcoming year. One of the challenges given this year was that each member was given a packet of 64 two and a half inch squares to be made into 4 eight and a half inch blocks. Our task at our May meeting was to make them into quilt tops for project Linus.
Several members brought their sewing machines and there was a hive of activity as groups of members pinned stitched and ironed on borders to create the quilt tops. There was great enthusiasm for the task with several members offering to take home the tops to make them into quilts. As there were still some packs left over these were also readily taken.
Everyone agreed it had been a productive evening for a worthwhile cause.
