2023 October Meeting

October Meeting - by Gill S

Deirdre opened October’s meeting with the notices and a reminder about upcoming local events.

Kate followed by giving us an interesting summary of the information we shared at the group discussions during our August meeting. One of the main messages that came through was how much everyone appreciates our community and the opportunity to share expertise, ideas and interests. Positive feedback was also given regarding holding the exhibitions and how the challenges push some of us out of our comfort zones. Suggestions for the future included ideas for speakers, Saturday sewing days and a Buddy scheme.

While Deirdre took in our items for next month’s exhibition Eileen lead the group in creating this year’s Christmas Make - Folded Christmas Tree Decorations.

Everyone got busy and enthusiastically followed Eileen’s instructions. The hall became like Santa’s workshop with lots of lovely Christmas fabrics, sequins and brightly coloured beads. Once members had created their first hexagon everyone quickly got into the swing of things to create the required 6 hexagons needed for the tree. We were so focused on what we were doing we just about made time for tea!

By the time the evening came to a close we had produced a forest of decorative Christmas trees. Thank you to Eileen for the idea, guidance and a very enjoyable evening.
