May Meeting - by Jane M
The meeting was brought to order very promptly by Deirdre reading out the notices regarding activities in the local quilting world in the near future. It is this month that Jean celebrates her 90th birthday, we were delighted to be able to share this evening with her, our melodious voices singing Happy Birthday and then the cutting of a cake which we thoroughly enjoyed sharing during our coffee break.
The evening was arranged for us to put together our rail fence blocks, made as one of this year’s challenges. It was a very wet evening which meant we had a very depleted workforce however, we threw ourselves into the task with great enthusiasm. Seven machines whirring away at breakneck speed and other members manning the irons to press seams (Mrs Tiggywinkle would have been proud of the speed achieved)!
No quilt was completely finished during the evening but we laughed and shared in the success on our road to completing 17 Linus quilts.
Great fun, thanks for a fun evening ladies.
