2018 April Meeting

April Meeting - by Jane K

Another full and very interesting meeting.

We had various notices from Claire telling us about local quilt shows and talks. She also reminded us about paying our annual subs by next meeting and returning our GPDR form. There was also a reminder about our well stocked library, and the fact that a lot of the books had not been borrowed for quite a while, which is a great shame.

Then four brave Shirley Quilter members set up tables, which we took in turns to visit, to demonstrate various techniques to show us.  We were shown two methods of using foundation piecing, very well demonstrated in examples of a house block, a dress block and star signs.

We were also shown different ways of doing reverse appliqué, again with examples.

Finally there was information about the different types of paper available for doing appliqué and their merits. Namely freezer paper, bondaweb and steam and seam.

Lots of new methods to try out and think about. A very enjoyable evening.
