Cluedo

Cluedo Challenge - Overview

This Challenge is based on the board game and as a basis, Shirley Quilters is using the original game, which was launched initially in the USA in 1949 but was soon given licence elsewhere.

To recap, Dr Black is found murdered on the cellar stairs and the game is played to establish who murdered him, in which room and by which implement.

The Challenge was decided on well before Covid outbreak and therefore, as we will not be able to hand out cards, each member will receive an email with their “three cards” identified. This was done totally randomly, my husband had 21 pieces of card with an element on each card, he then pulled them out of a bin and I filled in the form. Believe me – he does not bend the rules for anyone!

Each person is given three cards from a standard "Cluedo" game. They then have to represent those three 'clues' somehow in their quilt. The people (Professor Plum, Miss. Scarlet etc.,) could be easy as they can represent the colour (but they don't have to), the rooms and weapons will be the tricky part.

The Rope              could be a rope quilting motif, or a couched thread as an embellishment

Lead Pipe              something grey, something long and thin

Conservatory        use floral fabric, applique flowers and vines

Example: Mrs Peacock in the Dining Room with the Revolver could be Peacock feathers forming a Dresden Plate (dining room), quilted in concentric circles (revolver).

People:-                 Miss Scarlett, Mrs Peacock, Mrs White, Colonel Mustard, Reverend Green, Professor Plum

Implements:-        Revolver, Rope, Candlestick, Lead Piping, Dagger, Spanner

Rooms:-                 Lounge, Conservatory, Kitchen, Library, Ball Room, Dining Room, Billiard Room, Study, Hall,

The pictured buttons below, will take you to the relevant pages to see elements in detail.

Maximum size of completed piece 24” x 24”. The committee would encourage you all to take part. Please don’t substitute “elements”, we have a list. Maybe – we will be able to display at a mini exhibition in November 2021.
