Isolation Block Quilts

Isolation Block Quilts

Once the first "Lockdown" was announced in March 2020, members were sent a block of the week, each Monday.  Over the following eighteen months, a total of 73 pattern blocks were sent out making a total of six different quilts.  Add to this finishing instructions and a couple of cake recipes - members kept busy.

Information about each exhibit is alongside

Love in The Mist - by Erica

This was a lockdown sewalong with Shirley Quilters.  I bought the fabric at the beginning of the first lockdown for the Edyta Sitar superbloom quilt, but I changed my mind and I had much more fund using it in this project.  I enjoyed choosing different fabric combinations for each block and it has lit a new passion for sampler quilts!    This has given the quilt a pretty "on point" look, even though it is a straight setting.  Longarm quilted by Cinnamon Quilting

Bright and Bold - by Barbara

This quilt is made up from nine of a series of twelve blocks kindly send out by our Secretary,  Eileen, during lockdown and the period when we couldn't meet face to face.  It was mostly made from fabrics in my stash, some "donated" by my daughter and a couple of small purchases.  It turned out to be bright and bold as I hoped

Hints of Hawaii- by Jackie B

Made for my son's 50h birthday in 2022 using my stash of batik fabric.  It was professionally quilted b Junaita Dodds, who suggested the turtle pattern in line with the Hawaiin theme

   Miscellany -by Ann S

This block was challenging but I was able to use up more material from my stash.  Named for the many colours and shapes in the quilt
