Later in the day, (16th May) returning back in the Lincoln direction we drove through a small village called Alford and saw a shop called “Needles & Pins”, plenty of free parking near the shop so another stop.
Sadly, when we went in there was no patchwork fabric to be found – but oh what a lovely person to chat to! There was a baby patchwork cover in the window and some interesting cushions made from men’s shirts. Yvette has not had the shop very long and it has taken a while to get it even to where it is now, having been an Indian take away and a charity shop previously. So far it has some basic haberdashery and does clothing repairs. We had a lovely chat, mainly about patchwork of course. This is the start, Yvette has a fabric rep going to visit her within a week or so and she will be placing an order for fabrics. She is very enthusiastic, she told me that there is a room at the back of the shop that would be ideal for workshops and this will hopefully be something she can achieve a little further down the line.
I don’t live close enough to be able to “pop in” for a look in the future, but for those who do live locally, I am sure this shop will be amazing.
The address is 4 High Street, Alford, Lincs – you can’t miss it as the shop is on the main road.
