2018 October Meeting

October Meeting - by Anne L

Tonight’s meeting was scheduled as an Open Meeting, but unfortunately the intended Speaker, Lauren Shanley had a family bereavement so could not attend. We send our condolences to Lauren and look forward to seeing her in the future.

As the Committee were unable to come up with a replacement speaker at such short notice the evening became a sew and natter evening.

Claire read out the notices of upcoming events in the area and told us how successful our Exhibition had been, with good feedback from visitors. We even made a profit which will be put to good use on projects throughout the coming year.

The most voted for Quilt in the show was Hexagons by Jill Harford. Congratulations Jill.

We were also informed that Project Linus had made a successful bid for Charity funding in Sutton, which means that they will have an extra £1000+ to put towards fabrics etc., for Linus Quilts.

Sadly Claire also informed us that the owners of Crafty UK, who gave us a talk in July, had their van, samples and goods stolen whilst they were at the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace at the weekend. Let’s hope that these items are soon recovered and the culprit apprehended.

We enjoyed a relaxing evening with members sewing, crocheting, knitting, embroidering and hand stitching a hexagon apron.

Although not all members were present for various reasons, I can say that you missed a good night ladies.
